The Problem

The airline industry was hit hard. The economic impacts of the pandemic were felt by the industry, causing massive amounts of planes and pilots to remain grounded. But, as the number of individuals with sore arms and vaccination status increases, airline companies need to keep up with the new travel demand. That means more pilot training, fast.

A Test Run

Modest Tree set out to help solve this pilot training predicament, starting with a vital Engine Ground Run procedure (EGR). Described as the process of checking some or all engines for proper functionality, EGR is vital for ensuring safety and is foundational for pilot training.

The real issue is how to deliver this training with limited resources and optimal knowledge transference. Modest Tree decided to think big and execute small, putting the training right in the palm of a pilot’s hands.

The Solution: The Power of Flight in Your Hand

The team developed training using their XR training product Xplorer and designed immersive training that can be accessed through any mobile device. The immersive pilot training can be done independently or watched and evaluated by an instructor.

“Recertification of pilots is a priority right now for airlines, companies, like our partner FlightPath International, need a solution that is accessible. and available, no matter the time zone. Xplorer allows us to deliver that solution on a device that fits in your pocket.”

Next Step

The success of the EGR virtual pilot training is the first step in a continued partnership with the airline industry. “ It’s the proof of concept we needed to show the world how Xplorer removes previous limitations in the world of training,” Tuck comments. The company forges ahead aiming to help industries utilize the power of virtual reality and education.
